The First ever Built Environment National Conference on Housing and Hydrology (BENCHH 2024) has been launched at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.
The BENCHH is an inaugural event organized by the Works and Housing Ministry which is set to last for three (3) days that is from the 2nd to the 4th of July, 2024.
The Conference under the theme “Enhancing Collaboration to tackle Ghana’s Housing and Hydrology Challenges” aims to bring together stakeholders, experts, policy makers and the public to tackle some devastating environmental challenges.
Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, speaking at the event highlighted the need for efforts to tackle flooding, affordable housing, water resource management among others.
He also stated some key areas the conference will focus on which includes Flood management and Hydrology, Housing Deficit and Regulatory Frameworks.
Attendees had the opportunity to partake in discussions and workshops in order to come out with practical solutions.
The Deputy Minister stressed on the importance of sustainable and resilient development as the way to go. He said “we are committed to promoting practices that not only meet current needs but also ensure the well being of future generations.
The conference came to an end with the Deputy Minister’s remarks which stated that “together, we have the power to transform challenges into opportunities and make significant strides towards a sustainable and prosperous future for Ghana”.
