Weija EPA Engages Bar, Pub, and Event Centre Owners in Noise Pollution Workshop

The Weija Area Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has organised a capacity-building workshop on Noise Pollution Management for owners and managers of bars, pubs, restaurants, and event centres operating within the Weija Gbawe Municipality.
The event, held at the Weija Gbawe Municipal Assembly, brought together business owners, facility managers, and representatives from various hospitality and entertainment establishments to discuss practical and responsible approaches to noise control.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Moses Aryee, the Weija Area Head of the EPA, and Madam Salamatu Sumaila from the Weija Gbawe Environmental Health Department. They provided participants with an overview of Ghana’s environmental noise regulations, the health and community impacts of excessive noise, and the responsibilities of facility operators in ensuring compliance.
Participants took an active part in the conversations, asking questions and seeking clarification on regulatory requirements, permissible noise levels, the use of sound-measuring devices, and strategies for preventing noise disturbances, especially during late-night operations.
Many attendees welcomed the opportunity to better understand the expectations of the EPA and expressed appreciation to the Authority for organising the workshop, noting that such engagements help improve their environmental performance and relationship with surrounding communities.
