Gov’t launches Appiatse endowment fund

Accra, Jan. 25, – Government through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources ,has launched the Appiatse Endowment Fund to aid and provide support  to victims of the recent explosion which occurred last Thursday, at Appiatse in the Western Region on January 25,2021.
In attendance was the sector Minister, The Deputy Minister for Lands and Foresty ; The Deputy Minister of Mines and Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuame among other prominent stakeholders.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon Samuel Abu Jinapor , revealed that, Government has set up a five member committee to ensure transparency and fairness in the management of funds .
The Five member committee would be headed by Rev Dr Joyce Aryee , a Former Minister for Education, who also served as a Former Minister for Local Government and Former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Mines who also has won many awards to her name .
The Four other members for the committee are Board Chairman of the Forestry Commission, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim 11, who doubles as  The Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Managing Director of Calbank, Philip Owiredu , Dr Antoinette Tsiboe – Darko , A lecturer at the University of Ghana and research fellow at the center for social policy studies and chief executive officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Sulemanu Koney .
