Crude oil Discovered In Abease, Apremdo

The Abease area in Apremdo of the Western Region has discovered what is suspected to be black gold.

The discovery by the community began some two weeks ago, when much attention was not given to the process as the community presumed it was a flow from a leakage vehicle or something.

Nana Egya Kwamina XI, the king of Apremdo on whose land the Black gold may be found told the Ghana News Agency during a visit to the community that, ” the incessant calls from my subject made me visit the site myself on Sunday and true to rumours I saw this black shiny and smelly substance gushing out of the ground”.

He said he immediately notified authorities such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Petroleum Commission, University of Mines and Technology and the Tema Oil Refinery.

Nana Egya Kwamena XI said samples have therefore been taken by the appropriate authorities pending investigations for confirmation or otherwise.

Meanwhile, some community members who expressed their joy on the face value of their discovery prayed their aspirations would be confirmed in the positive to increase economic activities in the area.
