CSSMA commends Sammy Gyamfi’s leadership at Goldbod

The Concerned Small Scale Miners Association (CSSMA) has lauded the leadership of Sammy Gyamfi at Goldbod, describing his tenure as instrumental in turning President John Mahama’s vision of a well-organised and nationally rewarding gold sector into practical results.

In a statement, the Association explained that Goldbod was created to instil order, fairness, and value in Ghana’s small-scale and artisanal gold mining industry, adding that under Mr. Gyamfi’s guidance, the institution is steadily fulfilling its mandate.

The group noted that his leadership approach demonstrates a strong sense of national responsibility, operational discipline, and an appreciation of the vital contribution small-scale miners make to the economy.

According to the miners, Mr. Gyamfi’s continuous engagement with operators across the country—marked by open dialogue and inclusiveness—has helped restore confidence between miners and the state, while ensuring that policies reflect realities on the ground.

CSSMA also commended Goldbod’s pricing framework, describing it as transparent and equitable. The Association said the system has boosted miners’ earnings, curtailed exploitation by intermediaries, and encouraged the sale of gold through authorised channels, thereby enhancing compliance and stability within the sector.

Beyond mining communities, the group observed that Goldbod’s activities have strengthened Ghana’s foreign exchange inflows by minimising leakages and formalising gold transactions.

These developments, it said, have contributed to broader macroeconomic stability by easing inflationary pressures, supporting the cedi, and boosting investor confidence.

The Association further welcomed Mr. Gyamfi’s tough posture against gold smuggling, particularly plans to roll out a credible traceability system covering the entire value chain from source to sale.

Such initiatives, it said, will safeguard state revenue, restore credibility to the sector, and deliver environmental benefits by deterring illegal mining, protecting water bodies, and promoting responsible land reclamation.

Reiterating its backing, CSSMA said it remains firmly aligned with Mr. Gyamfi and Goldbod in advancing President Mahama’s vision of a transparent, properly regulated gold industry that delivers sustainable benefits for small-scale miners and the country as a whole.
