EPA Engages St. Peter’s Mission School Pupils on Noise Pollution Awareness

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), through its Madina Area Office, has held an interactive noise awareness creation engagement with pupils of St. Peter’s Mission School at Ashaley Botwe in the Adentan Municipality.

The programme, held on Monday, December 15, 2025, formed part of the EPA’s efforts to educate young people on the dangers of noise pollution and to promote a quieter and healthier environment in schools and communities.

Speaking during the session, the Head of the Madina Area Office, Mr. John Leonard Doghle, took the pupils through the causes and effects of excessive noise, explaining how prolonged exposure can negatively affect health, learning and overall wellbeing. He encouraged the pupils to adopt noise-reducing behaviours and to serve as ambassadors for environmental protection in their homes and neighbourhoods.

The pupils actively participated in the engagement, sharing their personal experiences with noise pollution and offering ideas on practical ways to reduce noise levels in their surroundings. The interactive nature of the session helped deepen their understanding of the issue and their role in addressing it.

A total of 174 pupils participated in the programme. As part of the awareness campaign, the pupils were also introduced to simple hashtags to help them continuously reflect on and spread the message of a quieter, safer and more environmentally friendly community.
