EPA Greater Accra East Holds Stakeholder Engagement for Tema Industrial Operators

The Greater Accra East Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has held a one-day stakeholder engagement for industrial facilities operating within the Tema Industrial Enclave and neighbouring municipalities.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, brought together 83 participants, including Managing Directors, Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Officers, Environment and Compliance Managers, Plant Managers, and their representatives.
Hosted at the GAER Office Conference Room, the session opened with a welcome address from the Regional Director, Mr. Samuel Oteng, who stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the EPA and industry players to strengthen environmental performance and reduce pollution risks.
Participants received technical presentations from Dr. Irene Kumi Aboagye and Dr. Elvis Ahianonu, who took them through key regulatory areas such as environmental permitting procedures, compliance expectations, pollution control requirements, and effective environmental monitoring systems.
An interactive Q&A session followed, giving stakeholders the opportunity to seek further clarification on regulatory processes, permit durations, administrative penalties, and provisions under ACT 1124 and LI 2504.
Many attendees expressed satisfaction with the engagement, noting that such collaborative platforms help improve understanding of EPA requirements and promote smoother industry regulator cooperation.
The EPA Greater Accra East Office assured participants that more engagements would be organised to deepen compliance awareness and support industries in meeting Ghana’s environmental standards.
