EPA Ledzokuku Intensifies Pre-Festive Noise Control Education for Pubs and Event Centres

The Ledzokuku Area Office of the Environmental Protection Authority has carried out a targeted environmental education and awareness exercise on noise pollution for selected pubs and event centres in Teshie, Labone, La, and Spintex. The initiative aimed to prepare facility operators for the festive season by sensitizing them to acceptable noise limits, regulatory obligations, and practical sound management measures.

Mr. Klenam Mensah, Area Head, led the team to engage managers directly, assess on-site environmental practices, and provide tailored guidance on noise reduction.

Key observations from the exercise included inadequate soundproofing across many facilities and limited awareness of permissible decibel levels and operational hours. Operators, however, indicated their readiness to comply when adequately informed.

The team encouraged the adoption of sound-limiting devices, enhanced acoustic improvements, and stronger collaboration with regulatory authorities to reduce noise-related disturbances. The exercise is expected to strengthen cooperation and support efforts to ensure a quieter and safer environment for residents during the festive season.

The Authority noted that sustained compliance will require continuous engagement and periodic education campaigns to safeguard community well-being.
