EPA Takes Noise Awareness Campaign to Schools in Ayawaso East

The Greater Accra West Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has intensified public education on noise pollution with an outreach programme at the Nima Cluster of Schools and St. Kizito Junior High School in the Ayawaso East Municipality.
The Noise Awareness Creation exercise, held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, was aimed at educating students and staff on the dangers of excessive noise and the need to comply with environmental regulations.
The programme was led by Mr. Kenneth A. Annoh, Principal Programme Officer at the Greater Accra West Regional Office, together with other EPA officers. They sensitised participants on the causes and effects of noise pollution, including its impact on human health, learning, and general well-being.
The team also explained the legal framework governing noise control in Ghana and outlined the EPA’s mandate in regulating noise levels to protect the environment and public health.
Students were encouraged to act as change agents by sharing the knowledge acquired with their families and communities to help reduce noise nuisance at the community level.
The engagement was described as fruitful, with more than 538 students and staff reached and educated on noise pollution, noise nuisance, and relevant EPA regulations. The EPA reiterated its commitment to sustained public education as a key strategy for promoting environmental responsibility and compliance across the country.
