Forestry Commission arrests 13 illegal miners in Western North Region

The Forestry Commission’s Enchi District office has apprehended 13 illegal miners who had encroached upon the Boi Tano and Jema Asemkrom forest reserves located in the Western North Region.
During an operation led by the Western North Regional Forest Services Division last night, authorities destroyed several pieces of mining equipment along with temporary structures that the miners had set up within the protected areas.

Both the Boi Tano and Jema Asemkrom forest reserves have been frequently targeted by illegal mining activities.

The arrested individuals have been transferred to the Enchi Police Command to face legal action.
