GIADEC, Partners Seal US$60 Million Deal to Develop Nyinahin Bauxite Project

The Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) has signed a US$60 million facility agreement with Metalloïd Resources Investment – LLC-S.P.C and its subsidiary, Ghana Integrated Bauxite Development Limited Company (GIBDLC), to accelerate the development of the Nyinahin Bauxite Project in the Ashanti Region.

The agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi, is aimed at fast-tracking mining operations at the Nyinahin concession, one of Ghana’s most significant bauxite deposits. The initial phase of the investment will focus on the development of Hills 1, 2 and 3, with plans to scale up production as infrastructure and processing capacity expand.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of GIADEC, Mr. Reindorf Twumasi Ankrah, described the deal as a major milestone in Ghana’s quest to establish a fully integrated aluminium industry. He noted that the project forms a key pillar of government’s industrialisation agenda, which seeks to move the country beyond the export of raw minerals to value addition through refining and downstream aluminium production.

The Chief Executive Officer of Metalloïd Resources Investment, Mr. Ali Bin Jerais, said the investment reflects strong international confidence in Ghana’s mineral sector and in the long-term viability of the Nyinahin bauxite resource. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to responsible mining, environmental stewardship and local content development.
GIBDLC, a special purpose vehicle established by GIADEC, will oversee the implementation of the project and manage commercial and operational activities in partnership with Metalloïd.

The Nyinahin Bauxite Project is expected to create significant employment opportunities for local communities, stimulate auxiliary businesses and contribute to Ghana’s foreign exchange earnings. It also aligns with the country’s broader strategy to develop an integrated aluminium value chain, linking bauxite mining to alumina refining, aluminium smelting and the manufacture of finished products.
