Government approves GH¢12 minimum price for raw cashew nuts for 2025/2026 season

The government has set GH¢12.00 per kilogram as the Minimum Producer Price for raw cashew nuts for the 2025/2026 season to protect farmers’ incomes and support growth in the cashew industry.
The price, approved through the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), followed consultations with farmers and other industry players in Techiman. Although the pricing formula produced an indicative price of about GH¢11.16 per kilogram, stakeholders agreed on the higher, simpler figure of GH¢12.00 to better benefit farmers.
The TCDA throigh a press release said, the decision reflects a shared commitment to fairness across the cashew value chain, while ensuring market stability for aggregators, processors and exporters. The approved price is expected to motivate farmers to maintain quality standards and increase production during the season.
The Authority added that the Minimum Producer Price will be reviewed periodically to reflect changes in global market trends, exchange rates and production costs, as part of efforts to sustain the long-term growth of Ghana’s cashew industry.
