KNUST honours Agri-Impact CEO Daniel Acquaye with honorary doctorate

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has conferred an honorary Doctor of Science degree (D.Sc. Honoris Causa) on the Group CEO of Agri-Impact Limited, Mr. Daniel Fahene Acquaye, in acknowledgment of his remarkable impact on agriculture, agribusiness development, youth empowerment, and technological advancement in Ghana.
The distinction was presented by the Chancellor, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, together with the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, during the University’s 59th Congregation held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Kumasi.
This recognition adds to the growing list of engagements between Mr. Acquaye and his former university. Earlier in 2025, KNUST named its newly created drone training centre after him, highlighting his pivotal contributions to the promotion of modern agri-tech solutions.
Addressing attendees, the Vice Chancellor explained that the award was not only to celebrate a distinguished old student, but also to underscore KNUST’s mission of fostering national development through academic distinction, innovation, and meaningful collaborations.
“Daniel Fahene Acquaye, an internationally renowned agricultural and agribusiness personality, we celebrate your value chain expertise because you are a proud alumnus of this great university. We salute you. Your passion for nurturing agribusiness and small-scale enterprises is unmatched… In recognition of your extraordinary service to humanity, your transformative impact on agribusiness, and your unwavering support for academia, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, on this 29th day of November 2025, proudly confers on you the honorary Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa,” excerpts of the citation in his honour stated.
Speaking to journalists after receiving the honorary award, Dr. Acquaye conveyed deep appreciation to KNUST, adding that the gesture further motivates him to continue championing innovation-driven, youth-centred agricultural advancement and academic growth.
The Dan F. Acquaye Drone Innovation and Simulation Unit, situated at KNUST, stands as a significant contribution to agricultural technology education in the country. The facility aims to equip young people with the expertise required to deliver precision agriculture solutions nationwide, thereby boosting productivity and promoting sustainability across the sector.
