Minister urges shop and store owners in Swedru to maintain cleanliness

On March 2, 2025, Central Regional Minister Hon. Ekow Okyere Panyin Eduamoah led a significant clean-up exercise in Agona Swedru, emphasizing the importance of environmental cleanliness to prevent sanitation-related diseases. He urged residents to become ambassadors for maintaining a clean environment.
This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts by local authorities to promote sanitation. Approximately seven months ago, the Swedruman Council of Chiefs, led by Nana Kweku Esieni V, declared a ‘war’ on sanitation offenders.
They specifically called on traders, store and shop owners, street hawkers, and transport operators to maintain cleanliness in their areas, warning of sanctions against those who neglect their surroundings.
The recent clean-up exercise saw participation from various groups, including personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Health Service, and the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department.
Representatives from Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), staff of Maryking Stores, various transport unions, and members of the Agona West Municipal Assembly also took part.
These concerted efforts highlight the community’s dedication to fostering a healthier and more appealing environment for all residents and visitors.
