NADMO set to demolish dilapidated structures in Sekondi Takoradi

Takoradi, Jan.28, – The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has expressed worry over the current state of a number of buildings in the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis. This comes after the explosion at Apiatse that left 13 dead as well as scores injured and displaced.
According to the metropolitan NADMO director, James Obeng Jnr, several buildings in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis are posing great danger to lives based on utility tests conducted by the Works Department of the Assembly.
“It is the duty of NADMO, EPA and the assembly to ensure that buildings are safe for human to live in. We’ve written to all these people so they have prior notice”.
He hinted his outfit is seeking a court order to pull down all dilapidated buildings in the area to avert possible disasters
We are preparing to take some of the to court because most of them are being reluctant so we will use the court system since public engagement isn’t working”. He said
