The NAIMOS Taskforce currently conducting anti-galamsey operations in the Eastern Region, raided some illegal mining sites at Nsutem in the Fanteakwa South District.
The Illegal miners were observed mining and discharging their waste water directly into the Birim River from the illegal mining sites.
There was also mass destruction of lands within the area. The Illegal miners absconded upon siting vehicles of the NAIMOS Taskforce. Two excavators which were being used to cause the pollution have since been seized by the Task Force.
