Ten illegal chainsaw operators busted

Juaboso, Jan.26. – The Forestry Service Division of the Forestry Commission, Juaboso District in the Western North Region, has arrested ten illegal chainsaw operators for cutting down trees.

According to the Juaboso Forest Service Divisional Manager, Mr. Michael Aidoo, they had a tip-off that a gang of illegal chainsaw operators who usually operate in the midnight has invaded the Adabokrom Forest.

The Commission proceeded and arrested ten illegal chainsaw operators who are from Sankore in the Ahafo Region. They are Abudu Dramani, Kwasi Safor, Nana Osei, Anthony Manu, Issac kyere, Abudu Gafaro, Yay Ibrahim, Kwame Kye, Philip Addei, and Eric Mensah. Their chainsaw machines and other equipment have been confiscated, including some gallons of fuel.

The suspects have been handed over to the Adabokrom Police Command to face the wrath of the law. The District Manager has therefore cautioned the general public to desist from the illegal cutting of trees, and other illegal activities that affect climate change in the forest reserves.
