Eastern, Jan.29, – Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Chief of Oda Nkwanta in the Birim Central Municipal Assembly has cautioned his people to desist from disposing waste materials into the water bodies in the area.
Speaking at a gathering for a One-Week celebration of three deceased members of the community, the chief made it clear that two water gods are not happy about the behavior of some people in the community.
“Kankankrudu and Kwaku Asua, during last year’s animal sacrifice to appease the gods sent a messenger to warn me about how we are dumping refuse and openly defecating into them” he said.
The two rivers, Kwaku Asua and Kankankrudu flow from the northern part of the town join River Birim and subsequently join River Ankobrah and then into the sea.
He admonished his people to stop such practices or hence face the wrath of the water gods.
“We should put an end to these bad practices or I will pray the gods to punish whoever engage in these acts again” he concluded.
